APSSDC LTD., SRIKAKULAM was established in the year of 1990 to cater the different crop seeds needs of farmers in the district and to coordinate with Department of Agriculture & Agril., Universities to implement the different schemes introduced by the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

Srikakulam district is having 38 mandals divided into 9 Agricultural divisions and the principal crops grown as detailed below:APSSDC Ltd., Srikakulam has flourished and recorded the day to day improvements regarding with production, marketing and establishments also and near about 60% of the cropped area has sown by the seeds supplied by AP Seeds, Srikakulam itselfAPSSDC Ltd., Srikakulam has produced on an average of 30,000 Quintals of different crop seeds and marketed an average of 70,000 Quintals of different crop seeds with the tune of 30 to 40 crores turnover per year from the last 10 years.

Now, the APSSDC Ltd., Srikakulam is having 20,000 Sft., storage space in the district, wherein processing plant established and located at Ampolu Village of Srikakulam.


Production In The District

APSSDCLtd, SRIKAKULAM is the Paddy (Majorly), Pulses, Oilseeds (Groundnut and Sesame) and Millet production Unit which is having a production capacity of 60,000 Qtls through own production programme only i.e., through individual farmers

PADDY

various varieties like MTU-1075, BPT-5204, BPT-3291, RGL-2537, MTU-7029, MTU-1061, MTU-1064, MTU-1156, MTU-1121 is under production programme.

GROUNDNUT

Variety under production programme is K-6

SESAME

variety under production is YLM-66 through individual farmers.

MILLETS

With a special focus on millets the APSSDCLtd in accordance with Department of Agriculture and Govt. of AP with a motto to increase the farmers per capital income the production of RAGI, SAMA was also taken at APSSDCLtd, SRIKAKULAM by identifying the interested farmers


Objectives

  1. To cater the seed needs of farmers in the district of Srikakulam
  2. Organizing seed production locally within the district, to curtail the expenditure involved in bringing seed from other districts
  3. Co-ordinating with the Department of Agriculture in effective implementation of different Government Schemes in district.
