APSSDCL -Quality Control has central quality control lab at APSSDC Ltd., Vijayawada & Kurnool., for testing the Quality of different crop/variety seeds. The seed samples for testing vigour (Germination), Purity and moisture, sent by District(unit) offices, comprising of Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Gannavaram, Guntur, Ongole, Nellore, Srikalahasti, Kadapa, Kurnool, and Ananthapuram are analysed by quality control seed officer who is in charge of the seed testing lab, and communicate the results to the concerned units, as per the prescribed Indian Minimum seed certification standards both in Kharif and Rabi seasons, The quality control labs at Vijayawada & Kurnool not only undertake seed samples verification and testing of their own samples but also undertake testing of Pvt.seed samples of different seed companies at service charge of Rs.100/- per sample.

The QC laboratory will test the seeds regularly for the following.

1. Physical purity
2. Moisture
3. Germination
4. ODV

The quality control division also conducts field inspection of Certified seed and Foundation seed along with concerned District Manager (Seeds), both in Kharif and Rabi seasons to maintain seed quality in the field level. The QC officials visit the unit offices, check and verify the seed samples for quality, during seed processing at unit offices, both in Kharif and Rabi seasons and issue necessary instructions to the unit officers for maintaining quality in seeds. The quality control division also, verifies and scrutinizes the seed condemnation proposal sent by the unit officers after completion sales in Kharif and Rabi seasons for unsold quantities which are not fit for seed in next seasons as the validity expires.

During every financial year on an average 20,000 samples own and private seeds (service samples) of different crop/varieties will be tested for different quality parameters. Planning to establish quality seed testing labs at Srikakulam, Vizianagaram and WestGodavari & Srikalahasti. Planning to establish DNA finger printing lab, mini lab to be establish at each unit office for local testing of purity, vigour and viability.
